In the Experimental Station of Irrigation and Drainage, in Alquízar, province of Havana, the response of CEMSA ¾ viand banana at different moisture levels in a Ferrallitic Red Compacted soil, was studied. Three treatments were used, two of which are irrigated and other no irrigated taken as a witness, and irrigation was done when soil moisture decreased to 85% and 75% of field capacity respectively, for the irrigated treatments, with wetting depth of 40 cm in both cases.
It was found that optimal treatment was irrigated when the soil moisture descend to 85% of field capacity, with a yield of 32.87 t / ha for the fomentation phase and 30.80 t / ha for the production phase. In the witness obtained yields of 21.09 t / ha for the fomentation and 24.56 t / ha for the production phase, which shows that the viand banana has positive response to irrigation.
