To obtain high yields of wheat, soil moisture should be maintained above 70% of field capacity throughout the growing period of the crop. The total evapotranspiration of wheat is from 410 to 500 mm of which 300 mm is evapotranspiran from April until the end of the growing season . Normally Bulgaria conditions are employed 1-3 irrigations according to the characteristics of the year , with an annual water requirement from 600-1900 m3/ha. The most critical of crop water demand phase corresponds to the period of tasseling until grain filling .

Wheat conditions in Bulgaria although more weakly response to irrigation than other crops , is a irrigation plant. To receive high yields of wheat, soil moisture should be maintained above 70% of field capacity throughout the growing period of the crop.
