Ortega E. and. Martinez R. Irrigation regime in the banana fruit, Musa AAA, clone King Similar.
Irrigation and Drainage Series, Vol. 9 No. 1: 7 -22, 1986, Cuba.
Was studied under experimental conditions the influence of different irrigation regimes on the yield of the banana fruit, Musa AAA, clone King Similar, in a in a Red Ferrallitic Compacted soil in the Experimental Station of Irrigation and Drainage, in Alquízar, province of Havana . The treatments consisted of irrigate the first 30 and 45 cm deep soil where the moisture fell to 85 and 75% of field capacity, the treatments has been distributed in a randomized block design.
The best results were obtained when soil moisture was maintained throughout the crop cycle by over 85% of field capacity, regardless of the depth of wetting, with average yields of 34 t / ha for the fomentation and 43 t / ha for the production phase. There was a high water requirement and low drought tolerance of this clone compared with other clones studied, to obtain the non-irrigated treatment, taken as control, yields of 19 and 10 t / ha for the fomentation and the production respectively
