Starting from the available information on the behaviour of the water necessities of pineapple in the different development phases and the crop coefficients that have been studied, are determined the parameters for the irrigation scheduling under the climatic soil conditions predominant in Ciego de Avila province. The calculations are carried out using the methodology proposed by the FAO starting from the Reference Evapotranspiration, which has been calculated by the Institute of Meteorology according to the equation of Penman-Monteith, adjusted for the specific conditions of the meteorological stations in Cuba. The calculations are carried out for the three predominant types of soils in the areas dedicated to pineapple production in Ciego de Avila province.

The results show that the irrigation is not necessary during the months of the rainy period of the year, and during the rest of the year, the irrigation frequencies oscillate from 6 to 10 days and partial water requirement between 7 and 15 mm according to the type of soil and development stage, being important to manage the irrigation carefully to avoid undesirable excess of humidity for this crop.
