The Three Gorges Dam is located along the River Yangtze in Hubei province, in an area where major flooding occurred and is still exposed to the effects of heavy rains, is 2,335 meters long and has a high of 185 m; the reservoir occupies an area of ​​1,000 km2 and has a total capacity of 39,300 hm3. The dam has 32 turbine generating units and the energy generated by its hydroelectric power station exceeds 100,000 million kilowatt hours, a world record for a single installation.
