Carrillo R. Influence of soil moisture level on the yield of taro variety Japanese Islander

Different irrigation regimes of the Colocasia esculenta taro variety Islander Japanese on Ferrallític red soil at the Experimental Station of Irrigation and Drainage in the province of Havana was studied. It was quantified the yield, plant height, number of plants, plus a root study and bromatologic analysis, subjecting the measurements to the analysis of variance and Duncan test. It was found that
to establish the scale irrigation taro production in soil Ferralítico red, irrigate is recommended with a level of soil moisture 80% of field capacity.
In the treatments of 80% and 90% of field capacity was gotten yields of 31 and 33.4 t / ha, respectively, there were no significant differences between these two treatments. The most evapotranspiration corresponded to wet treatment with medium value of 3.4 mm / day
