Giralt P.E. and. Ramirez P. J. Irrigation regime in the potato Desirée and Claudia varieties

The effect of different moisture levels on the yield of the potato crop in a ferrallitic red soil, using varieties Desirée and Claudia was studied. In both varieties, the maximum yields were 35 t / ha by applying irrigation when soil moisture descend to 85% of field capacity during the cultivation, the minimum yields were of 19 and 22 t / ha when the irrigation was make to 70% of field capacity for the same crop cycle.
Also achieved yields of 33 and 35 T / ha when irrigated to 85% of field capacity during the first 50 days after germination, with later irrigation when soil moisture decreased to 70% in the rest period. Yields are significantly affected when irrigated with 70% of field capacity during the first 30 days after germination.
The maximum and minimum total evapotranspiration for the variety Claudia was 206 and 130 mm, with values for the variety Desirée of 209 and 154 mm respectively. The humid treatments received 10 irrigations and the less humid 5 irrigations.
