Global warming increase its destructive activity in 2019.

Juan G. R., Juan G. R., and Juan P. J. A. Global warming increase its destructive activity in 2019.

Water and Irrigation Vol.: 10, No. 1: 15-16, August 13, 2019, Spain.

The effects of global warming in 2019 continue to rise causing: the melting of the ice sheet at the poles, the increase in forest fires and increased activity of tornadoes and cyclones. In Greenland, the heat wave burned the ice sheet of the country, triggering the melting of approximately 60% of its surface and lost 12,500 million tons of melting in a single day. The fires that affect the Taiga forest, located in Siberia in Russia, have already devastated millions of hectares, which contributes significantly to climate change. The heat wave in India leaves 184 dead until June. There are also reported dead by the effects of the heat wave in Europe. It is necessary to increase measures in different countries in the fight against global warming to minimize its destructive effects that already threaten the future of humanity.

Greenland melted in the middle of June 2019, the last time it experienced such a massive thaw was in 2012, when its ice sheet lost more than 10,000 million tons in runoff to the ocean. In the month of April 2019 temperatures above the average, have caused the beginning of the thawing season, which normally occurs at the end of May. The area of Greenland is around 2 million square kilometers, of which about 80% are permanently covered by ice.

Greenland spent much of the month of July under the fire effect the heat wave scorched the ice sheet of the country, triggering the melting of approximately 60% of its surface. On Thursday, the ice shelf lost 12.5 billion tons from the thaw, the largest single-day loss in its history, according to the Washington Post.

The heat wave from Africa that has reached the Arctic after its passage through Europe has caused record temperatures and heat stroke deaths in recent days due to high temperatures, as well as the acceleration of melting in Greenland as a result of the change climate.

Heatwave in India leaves 184 dead until June. During this summer there have been 8 deaths reported in Spain, on August 10 the Valencian Community has reported that 9 people have been treated for heat stroke. They are also reported dead by heat wave in other countries in Europe.

The Arctic is warming faster than any other region in the world which causes the environment in that place to be warmer, more variable and humid, affecting the ecosystems of the area.

The oceanic desalination process is produced by the pouring of fresh water from the ice of the glaciers into the salt water in the seas that surround Antarctica. The effect of fresh water on salt water, in addition to increasing sea levels, affects the life of beings living near the glacier. The organisms that live in those regions are adapted to a certain range of temperatures and salinity, so it is important to know the changes that these organisms will suffer.

The fires that affect the Taiga forest, located in Siberia in Russia, have already devastated millions of hectares, which contribute significantly to climate change; In addition, it has emitted millions of tons of carbon dioxide, Greenpeace said. The organization said that fires in Siberian forests are especially dangerous for the climate, since they produce black carbon, derived from the soot that is deposited in the Arctic ice and accelerates its fusion.

Most of the fires have their origin on the side of the roads, according to the conclusions of a meeting in which Russian parliamentarians discussed the fire that plagues their territory. The Ministry of Emergency Situations analyzed the areas where dry storms took place, concluding that these were not the main cause of the fires, but the human factor, according to official Russian sources.

Forest fires that devastate parts of the Arctic threaten to accelerate the defrosting of ice and the permanently frozen layer of land, releasing large amounts of stored greenhouse gases.

Portugal and Spain are the Mediterranean countries where more forest fires occur, much of them as a result of high temperatures and human activity. Also in the US, the state of California is very prone to forest fires causing large human and economic losses. As a result of drought and high temperatures, the Australian continent is very prone to forest fires.

Global temperatures could rise more than three degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century, accelerating global warming, melting the ice sheet, raising global sea levels, which has caused many islands to disappear in Pacific archipelagos and that penetrates the level of the sea in diverse coasts of many countries with low levels.
